So far, every model featured in the review has had a cutting wheel of 5 inches or less. This Makita offers a cutting disc diameter of 9 inches, effectively doubling this tool’s cutting depth.
If you are working with large stones or slicing through brickwork to create an opening, this is the angle grinder to use. Like other Makita’s featured, this model has the same auto-stop function that cuts power to the blade should it get jammed.
You also get the same speed sensor that automatically adjusts the rate this grinder drives the wheel. This is a neat feature because it takes the guesswork out of the equation when slicing through heavier material.
The brushless motor delivers 6,000 RPM, and the Star Computer Protection reduces the risk of overloading and over-discharging. As with the other Makita models, the batteries and charger are supplied separately, so that’s an added cost to consider.
