The increased capacity to make rip cuts improves the versatility of this saw. Given that it is a professional-grade model, this is the type of thing to appeal to the serious woodworker.

3. Powermatic PM1000 1791001K Table Saw

Best Value Cabinet Table Saw

When we talk about value, we don’t mean the same thing as budget. This Powermatic is not the cheapest cabinet saw to make the list, but the features it offers and its price point make it excellent value for the money.

It has a 50-inch fence, a dust collection port to attach your shop vacuum, and a massive bump switch, which cuts the power in an emergency. It lacks power, at just 1.75 horsepower, but it still packs enough of a punch.

What We Like

Poly-V Belt

The Poly-V belt optimizes the motor’s power while at the same time decreasing the noise level and reducing the vibration of the machine. It all adds up to a quieter table saw and better accuracy.

This saw operates on 115 volts. While it doesn’t affect the power of the device, it does mean that it is more electrically rugged. The motor is wound with a heavier gauge wire so that it can consume the same power as a 240-volt motor.

Cut-Off Switch

The cut-off switch is enormous. It is mounted just below the table and in an easy-to-reach location should you need to bump it off with your knee.

What We Don't Like

Most of the saws featured have at least 3 horsepower. This model operates with only 1.75 HP. It might mean that you are restricted with the density of the material you can cut. It also limits you to using a blade with a thin kerf only.

Voltage Protection Switch

The voltage protection switch kicks in and cuts the motor, even when the saw is under light pressure. When mid-cut, this can be frustrating and lead to inaccuracies as well as time delays.

4. Grizzly Industrial G1023RLWX-10-Inch Table Saw

Best Professional Cabinet Table Saw

Many cabinet table saws are suitable for professional use. Still, this Grizzly has one advantage over the competition; it has an extendable table that increases the table size from 27 inches to 40 inches. It means that the project size does not restrict you.

It is packed with features like the easy-glide fence and the triple V-belt drive system, as well as the magnetic switch with thermal overload protection.

High revolutions per minute are crucial if you want your table saw to tackle the toughest tasks. This Grizzly certainly packs a punch at 4,300 RPM.

If you are using this saw in a professional setting, having 5 horsepower at your disposal is crucial for industrial uses. It means you are never going to find yourself short of power.

Extendable Table

The table almost doubles in size from 27 inches to 40 inches. This makes it the perfect cabinet saw to adapt depending on the size of the workpiece.

What We Don't Like

Rip Capacity

This saw does have a reduced rip capacity when compared to other similar models. So, while it has increased power, it will restrict your ability to make rip cuts, meaning this table saw is better suited to bespoke furniture and cabinet makers.

Best Heavy-Duty Cabinet Table Saw

This durable all-steel-based cabinet table saw has a 52-inch right-side rip capacity for long boards. It also comes with a 5 HP motor that spins at 3600 RPM. All this is finished with a vibration-reducing trunnion which makes this a user-friendly and professional choice.

Take It Anywhere

Wherever you want to set this up, you can, whether it’s at a workshop or in your garage. It runs on 220-volt single-phase power, making it easy to set up most places.

Quality Tabletop Design

The tabletop itself has a nice smooth finish making it easy to slide wood in and out without resistance. It’s a totally even tabletop that ensures you make the most beautiful and perfect cuts possible. Even under heat and wet conditions, the tabletop won’t warp. It also always stays square due to the criss-cross design on the base’s bottom. Last but not least, you can polish the cast-iron tabletop, giving it a nice shine even after repeated use.

Make Easy Adjustments

When you want to customize heights and angles, this cabinet table saw makes that very straightforward. Firstly, a digital readout for rip capacity allows you to get the accurate length each time you need to use it.

It also has steel handwheels for adjusting the blade’s height and the miter angle. The rack and pinion mechanism allow you to move the blade up and down easily. The user-friendly design of this table saw is certainly appreciated.

What We Don't Like

Expensive With Short Warranty

Considering how expensive this is, the 1-year warranty is a little disappointing. When investing this kind of money, it would be more reliable if the warranty was longer.

6. DeWALT DWE7491RS 10-Inch Table Saw

Best Cabinet Table Saw for Home Use

This table saw is more of a lightweight option. It has a smaller footprint, which is why we chose it as the ideal choice for home woodworking. But because it is smaller doesn’t mean it lacks features. It has a 32.5-inch rip capacity and a powerful 15-amp motor.

It has a maximum cutting depth of 2.25 inches at 45 degrees, and 3.125 inches at 90 degrees.

What We Like

Smaller Footprint

This cabinet saw has a unique rolling stand to give maximum support and stability. It also has a smaller footprint, making it the ideal choice for home workshops.

Rip Capacity

Despite the smaller size, it has an impressive 32.5-inch rip capacity. So, if you are working on projects that need to rip through lengths of plywood, this cabinet saw can handle it.

This cabinet table saw has reliable wheels, so should you decide that it is time for a move around, you can do it with ease.

Compared to some cabinet table saws, this DeWALT is reasonably priced. It doesn’t seem to lack in any way as a result of its lower price point.

What We Don't Like

Blade Vibration

This affects the quality of your cuts and is typically caused by a poorly engineered arbor. Others reported that the arbor nut becomes loose and the blades fall off.

7. Powermatic 1791229K Table Saw

Best Budget Cabinet Table Saw

This is the budget option, so don’t expect this Powermatic to achieve the same performance levels as the SawStop. That said, it is still a decent table saw, and you are saving a stack of money on the purchase cost.

It has a micro-adjusting miter gauge with an extension plate for an increased cross-cutting capability. It also has a quick-release blade guard and riving knife for tool-less mounting and removal.

You cannot ignore the fact that this saw is cheap. Okay, it will still cost you, but for a cabinet table saw, it isn’t a lot.

Miter Gauge

The micro-adjusting miter gauge lets you make super-accurate crosscuts as well as increasing the size of your crosscuts using the extension.

What We Don't Like

Like a couple of other models, this budget saw only has 1.75 horsepower, so if you are buying it for a professional setting, it might not be the best choice.

Build Quality Issues

The simple truth is you get what you pay for. To keep the costs down, Powermatic has trimmed the quality.

How to Choose (Buying Guide)

Cabinet table saws are the pinnacle of the table saw world. They are robust, accurate and above all, reliable. So, what should you look for when shopping for a cabinet table saw?

Two elements help you to make cuts in dense and hard material; power and the right saw blades. Since the saw blade is an additional consideration, we need to focus on the power your cabinet saw has.

For wood measuring 2 inches or less, you should invest in a table saw with a 1 to 2 horsepower motor. This is enough to deal with most general woodwork projects. However, if you want to get the most powerful saw for hardwood and dense material, consider getting a 3 horsepower motor.

3 horsepower is sufficient to saw through every type of material, and more substantial stock.

A lot of people confuse power and torque. Torque, in short, is rotational force. We’ve used the analogy of a sports car before to illustrate the point. You can send as many horsepower to the wheels as you want, but without the right amount of torque, most of that power gets wasted, and the car becomes difficult to control.

Torque harnesses the power and translates it into motion. Cabinet table saws have a lot of torque so that you can cut through sturdy materials even at low speeds.

A stable table saw enhances safety and allows you to work on more substantial projects without the fear you could come to harm. The last thing you want is for the table saw to topple under the weight of your stock. Cabinet table saws are heavy! They stay where they are once in position.

This stability comes from the extra weight. If you want a saw that you can maneuver, think again about buying a cabinet table saw. That said, it isn’t always about weight alone. It also boils down to weight distribution. Make sure the weight is balanced, and the saw has a low center of gravity. A lighter saw with the correct placement of the weight is always a better choice.

A poorly balanced table saw will topple just as easily as a lighter model, and because of the added weight, it will cause more damage.

A table saw with power, torque and greater stability is a more accurate tool. It isn’t going to be fazed by denser material. You are always going to see the best results, no matter what you are cutting.

Given that you are making a significant investment, look for elements that improve the saw performance and accuracy. Anti-vibration belts reduce the vibration and make the saw quieter. This improves accuracy.

When looking for accuracy, look underneath the saw at the infrastructure.

Table saws are among the worst power tools for severe injuries. Never underestimate how dangerous a table saw can be — the stats speak for themselves. Every year, according to the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), more than 67,000 workers and DIY enthusiasts suffer injuries from table saws (1). That equates to more than 33,000 visits to the emergency room.

There are things you should consider to mitigate the dangers. Look for a saw with a large paddle switch located at knee height. It means you can shut the power off in an emergency.

Dust Collection

Sawdust is a feature of workshops and can be hazardous when inhaled. The Center for Disease Control classifies sawdust as a carcinogen. An effective dust collection system means that you are protected and can breathe easier, quite literally. Some models have a dust collection bag that hangs below the saw. This is less desirable than an extraction system because they fill quickly and extract less sawdust.

Extraction ports connect to your shop vacuum and suck the dust away through pipes. This is the most efficient way of removing the sawdust on your table saw.

The blade that comes with your table saw is not going to be suitable for all your projects. For this reason, you can buy a seemingly infinite variety of saw blades to cater to any task. So, if you are going to swap the blades frequently, you will want a saw that has a quick-change function.

Likewise, if you are working on substantial projects, you will want a saw blade size that accommodates this.

Cabinet table saws are big, and they take up a lot of room. Make sure you double-check the measurement of your workshop before spending thousands of dollars on your new saw. If it doesn’t fit, you are going to have a problem.

If you are considering a new cabinet table saw, you are probably someone who needs a table saw in a professional capacity, or at the very least, are a serious woodworker with a stack of projects to get done.

Buying a cabinet table saw is expensive, so if you want to get the most from your investment, be sure that the table saw is going to get the workout to justify the expense.

Cards on the Table

Cabinet table saws may not be the best choice for everyone, especially given their cumbersome dimensions. But, if you have the space, the knowledge and the budget, a cabinet table saw simply is the best choice.

They are stable, hard-wearing and reliable. These saws cost a lot of money, but they should keep you happily sawing for years to come.
