How to Choose the Best Black Faucet

Choosing a new kitchen faucet entails more than just picking the finish. Here are four factors to mull over:

Single or Double Sink?

Large homes with big kitchens generally have double or wide sinks, meaning more distance for your faucet to cover. Consider a faucet with a broad reach and 180- to 360-degree rotation to reach the whole, or both sinks.

If you often use large pots, a high arch design is an excellent pick. High arch spouts provide clearance under the neck and most come with pull-down features. Another perk of having more sink space is that you can choose a dual-handle faucet.

Small sinks need something a bit more compact, particularly if they’re shallow. Single handle faucets are excellent for this, and they’re practical, too. They fit a single hole installation, and many have a pull-out feature to increase your reach.

Pull-Out or Down?

We all strive to find something practical to make everyday chores easier. Pull-out or pull-down fixtures are super convenient — if you place them in the right settings.

Pull-out fixtures are excellent for small, shallow sinks, with little room for large pots and pans. Long hoses and dual spray modes are standard features. Depending on the manufacturer, you may get a hose measuring 50 to 60 inches.

Pull-down faucets work with gravity. They have high arch designs, encouraging the downwards pull motion. Although their extendable hoses are considerably shorter — usually just 20 inches — you still get two spray modes.

While we’re busy showering, doing dishes, or flushing the toilet, we rarely stop to think about our draining water supplies. Rough estimations showed that a single person uses approximately 80 to 100 gallons per day (1).

Look for the flow rate, indicating how many gallons per minute is coming from the tap. This should be around 1.5 to 1.8 GPM for optimal water savings (2). Fortunately, most modern kitchen faucets adhere to that range.

GPM Too High?

You can always install an aerator — a mesh net restricting the flow by the nozzle. It’s also an excellent solution to minimize splashing.

Less Dripping

Having a leaking or dripping faucet can waste around 90 gallons per day (3). Luckily, most modern fixtures prevent this by including ceramic cartridges, as opposed to traditional rubber washers or seals.

Ceramic valves are highly durable, and resistant to rust and corrosion. They’re also significantly more efficient at preventing leaks and drips by sealing the supply off completely (4).

Best Kitchen Faucet Brands

Knowing which brands are best is a great way to narrow down your choices. Here are three well-known for quality and good reviews.

Delta Faucet

Delta Faucet is famous for its technologically advanced fixtures such as LED lights, touch control, and motion detection — all excellent for the modern kitchen.

Its faucets are also beautiful and available in nearly all finishes, including black. Plus they save water by keeping the flow rate between 1.5 and 1.8 GPM.

Kraus is a newer brand, known for its traditional style blended beautifully with modern innovations. Its fixtures are ergonomically designed with durable hoses and retraction systems — perfect for busy homes.

Its fixtures come in various types, though Kraus is renowned for its pull-downs and pull-outs. There are plenty of finishes to choose from.

Moen is a favorite brand in the U.S., famous for its MotionSense technology and WaterSense certifications. It offers several lines, ranging from modern and contemporary, to traditional and rustic kitchens.

Nearly all its faucets are available in black. We’ve got two on today’s list.

The Best Black Kitchen Faucets of 2022

We’ve fallen in love with black faucets — there’s just something so intriguing about them. But this, of course, didn’t help to narrow our list down! We managed anyway thanks to user reviews and some expert insight.

Here are the top black kitchen faucets on the market.

1. Kraus Bolden KPF-1610MB Kitchen Faucet

Best Commercial-Style Black Faucet

Are you searching for a statement piece? This might be it. Created by modifying its commercial fixture, Kraus created Bolden for the domestic kitchen.

It has a compact 18-inch spout encompassed in a spring coil, and coated in a beautiful matte black finish.

The 20-inch extendable pull-down hose and retraction system emphasize the industrial style. It offers you two modes to meet everyday needs.

Kraus made it from eco-friendly, lead-free materials with a built-in ceramic valve. What’s more, you can install it right away — supply water lines are pre-attached, and all the mounting hardware is included.

The Pros

Optimized Height

Kraus took its industrial fixture and snipped a few inches from its height, giving us this fantastic modification.

It now measures 17.64 inches exactly, so it’ll fit under most overhead cabinets. The spout reaches 8.69 inches away from the deck and hangs 6.38 inches above it.

Practical Pull-Down

What’s a commercial-style faucet without a pull-down? Bolden gives you a 20-inch retractable hose that’s flexible and feels smooth to maneuver.

With the flick of an ergonomic switch, the sprayer wand offers two standard modes: an aerated stream or pressurized spray. The aerated stream will cut down on splashing while washing your veggies. What’s more, the flow rate never exceeds 1.8 gallons per minute.

Easy Maintenance and Installation

The matte black finish is resistant to rust, corrosion, and scratches. The sprayer holes are made from soft rubber, and need only a gentle wipe to keep clean.

Another uncomplicated feature of this Bolden faucet is installation. Everything comes pre-attached, so all you do is connect the supply lines to your plumbing with the included hardware. The single handle works by a 90-degree forward motion, so you can install it close to the backsplash.

The Cons

Holding Arm Is Fixed

The holding arm in the middle of the neck is fixed. You can’t move it to the side, which a few users feel is quite inconvenient when doing dishes.

Material Lead-free brass
Flow rate 1.8 gallons per minute

Spout reach 8.69 inches

2. Pfister LG534-LPMB Arkitek Pull-Out Kitchen Faucet

Best Black Faucet for Compact Kitchens

An ultra-modern design, bundled in a compact package, Pfister hit the mark with this one. Everything from the squared shape of the spout to the functional pull-out had our jaws on the floor.

It’s a tall spout with low arch design, measuring approximately 13 inches in height and with a 9.18-inch reach. On the underside of the sprayer head is a switch to toggle between two spray modes. It has a reduced flow rate of 1.8 GPM and includes a ceramic valve.

The single-handle works by forward-motion, giving you the option of installing it against the backsplash. It’s suitable for one to three-hole sinks, and Pfister did add a deck plate.

The Pros

The Design

Pfister describes this style as “urban” and we must say, it delivers — the design is stunning.

Arkitek is a strong statement piece, creating beautiful contrasts with its modern elegance. It’s minimalistic with sharp edges, square shapes, and matte black finish that all add to the boldness.

Pull-Out Feature

The pull-out feature is excellent in small kitchens. The hose extends 16 inches, and you’ve got a practical switch to change between spray and stream.

A great detail is the Arkitek’s size. Even though it’s a pull-out design, it has a tall neck and long reach. It’s excellent for installing in tight spaces since it doesn’t require any room at the back.

Water Efficient

Pfister got this faucet certified from head to toe. It’s compliant with the water efficiency standards of the California Energy Commission (CEC) and it meets the requirements of ADA and ANSI, ensuring user-friendly operation.

The Cons

Wand Awkward to Hold

Some reviewers thought the sprayer wand was awkward to hold due to its square shape. Of course, if you’re used to the standard round handles, this takes some getting used to.

3. GICASA Commercial Style Spring Kitchen Faucet

Best Black Faucet for Heavy-Duty Use

Built with heavy-duty materials and sporting a commercial faucet design, this Gicasa fixture fits perfectly in a busy kitchen.

The high 22-inch arch is wrapped in a spring coil and complements a modern kitchen flawlessly. The spout can turn 360 degrees, covering the whole sink. Its sturdy body is made from brass and coated in a smooth matte black.

A great feature is the dual spouts. You get a pull-down sprayer with a rubber nozzle, providing an aerated flow. There’s also a powerful pot filler in the middle.

The Pros

Sturdy Construction

Gicasa made this for heavy-duty use. The primary material is brass, used for both the pull-down hose and the fixed pot filler. It’s lead-free as well as impervious to corrosion and rust.

It’s fitted with a ceramic cartridge, preventing leaks and abrasion. The matte black finish not only looks stunning but protects from external damages and tarnishing. It’s also resistant to water spots and fingerprints.

Commercial Design

This comes very close to an original commercial faucet. Its tall, coil-wrapped arch gives it a touch of professionalism. The 360-degree swivel feature also adds to the convenience required in an industrial kitchen.

Dual Spouts

Instead of fiddling around with a sprayer head, you get a fixed pot filler for stubborn messes. Each nozzle has its control handle, and the pull-down has a clip to set it to hands-free. The lever prevents it from turning off, allowing you to rest your hand.

The nozzle is coated in protective rubber to prevent the build-up of minerals and limescale. It’s also effortless to clean without having to soak or scrub.

The Cons

Not for Shallow Sinks

A few disappointed reviewers noted that the faucet doesn’t work well with shallow sinks. The sprayer head hangs quite low — approximately 2.6 inches from the base. Fitting large pots, even with the high arch, is a challenge.

Additional Specs

Material Lead-free brass
Flow rate 1.8 gallons per minute
Faucet style Commercial-style
Spout reach 9.29 inches
Warranty Five-year warranty

4. Kraus Nolen KPF-1673SFSMB Kitchen Faucet

Best Dual-Tone Black Kitchen Faucet

If you want a black faucet with some contrast, we recommend Nolen. With a dual tone finish of stainless steel and matte black, this is a gorgeous piece.

It’s a practical pull-down design, consisting of a retractable 18-inch hose. An excellent detail is the swivel adapter, allowing for smooth movements that reach around the whole sink.

We appreciate how easy it is to install. Kraus included a QuickConnect system, which attaches the water supply lines. With a little tightening, you’re up and running.

The high arch is at a perfect 16.375-inch height, making it suitable for most kitchens. The spout reaches approximately 9.125 inches and is elevated 9 inches from the base.

The Pros

Unique Finish

The dual tone is quite unusual, but we love it. The sprayer head and base sport an All-Brite spot free stainless steel finish, whereas the body is a smooth textured matte black.

Both finishes are impervious to fingerprints and smudges. It’s a clean, refreshed look, which really grabs our attention.

Excellent Pull-Down Sprayer

The pull-down sprayer is practical. You get an 18-inch long hose, fitted with a retraction system and as you loosen your grip, it retreats smoothly back into its dock.

There are the usual two modes, and Kraus’ ergonomic switch at the back of the sprayer head makes it super easy to toggle between them.

Straightforward Installation

The installation couldn’t be any easier, thanks to the QuickConnect system. It consists of a drop-in base, which you install from above the deck. From there you can secure it without having to duck under to tighten it.

The Cons

Plastic Head

A few users were disappointed when they found out the sprayer head is plastic. This isn’t a fact Kraus specifies in the description but should look into. Plastic isn’t as durable as metal and not suitable for heavy use.

5. Moen 87233BL Adler High Arc Pulldown Kitchen Faucet

Best High Arc Black Kitchen Faucet

Add a bold statement with this matte black pulldown from Moen. It’s practically eye-candy — a classic Moen design — with features to match.

The 68-inch braided hose is equipped with Moen’s Reflex system. It allows effortless movements and secure docking when finished. With the sprayer head, you can enjoy the Power Clean technology for a powerful water flow.

It’s a high-arch design, reaching its spout height to 14.6 inches. The single handle is easy to use and it’s ADA compliant. Lastly, its installation is a breeze.

The Pros

Bold Design

Moen’s Adler line is simply stunning and we love the sleek appearance of the matte black. This pulldown is stylish with its high-arch design and timeless curves, which will suit nearly any decor.

Extra Long Hose

The 68 inches makes a huge difference, especially in small sinks. However, the two details we really love on this pulldown are the Power Clean technology and the Reflex system.

Moen’s Reflex system is practical and user-friendly. It allows the hose to travel smoothly and naturally according to your movements. The braided hose is extra flexible and returns securely to its docked position.

Ease of Installation

A lot of people noticed how quick it was to install this unit. It would approximately take you less than 30 minutes to have this set up and running.

The Cons

Spot Resist Option

This faucet comes with four color finish: chrome, matte black, mideterranean bronze, and spot resist finish. Unfortunately, only the latter option will give you the ability to resists fingerprints and water spots for less maintenance.

6. Moen Arbor 7594EWBL Motionsense Pull-Down

Best Hands-Free Black Kitchen Faucet

Another example from Moen’s Arbor collection is this beautiful pull-down fixture. It’s equipped with a motion detection sensor, enabling you to activate the flow with a wave. It’s a high-tech feature, making a massive difference in a busy kitchen.

Another great feature is the retractable hose — the smooth Reflex sýstem brings the hose back to dock from any position. It’s convenient seeing that the faucet has one of the longest hoses seen on a pull-down: about 68 inches long.

The Pros

Hands-Free Experience

On the side of the neck is a little sensor with great powers. Moen’s MotionSense detects your hand as it moves closer. With a slight wave, you activate the flow without touching the faucet — it’s practical, hygienic, and something to brag about.

Practical Pull-Down

The pull-down hose is extra long when compared to the usual 20 inches you get with other brands. What’s more, the flexibility is impressive — it moves effortlessly with you as you use it, then retracts with the Reflex system.

It’s also equipped with Moen’s Power Boost technology, which increases the pressure significantly for an efficient clean. You control it using the switch on the sprayer head.

Beautiful Fixture

Matte black suits the Arbor pull-down beautifully. It’s sleek and sophisticated to look at with the high arch and sassy handle curves. It measures approximately 15.5 inches in height and has a reach of 7.88 inches.

The Cons

Poor Water Pressure

A few reviewers weren’t pleased with the water pressure. Some did offer a solution to this and added that you could remove or replace the restrictor.

Additional Specs

Flow rate 1.5 gallons per minute
Faucet style Pull-down
Spout reach 7.88 inches

Best Black Faucet With Touch Control

Matte black, LED lights, and high-tech is what this faucet is all about — Delta didn’t hold back. It’s a stunning pull-down fixture with MagnaTite Docking and Diamond Seal Technology.

Delta equipped it with Touch2O, so you can touch anywhere on the spout with your hand or wrist to activate the flow. Around the base are LED lights which indicate the water temperature.

Lastly, the nozzle features Delta’s Touch-Clean rubber holes, so it’s super easy to keep free of minerals and limescale.

The Pros

If you’re like us and often get messy in the kitchen, this feature is perfect. You can use any part of your body to open the tap, but Delta recommends your hand, forearm, or wrist.

Magnetic Docking

After you’ve finished using the pull-down sprayer hose, it returns to dock. Delta’s MagnaTite docking system consists of a powerful magnet at the top of the spout. As the hose retracts, the magnet catches it and keeps it secured.

LED Lights

The LED light at the base changes color from blue to red, showing you the temperature. It’s a practical feature, adding an extra touch of tech.

Diamond Seal

Delta’s innovative Diamond Seal Technology is one of a kind. The faucet is fitted with the usual ceramic valve, but it’s encrusted in diamonds. The result is extra strength that lasts a lifetime.
